Man Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash near Wayside Drive

HOUSTON, TX (June 18, 2024) – One person died Sunday night, in a taco-truck vs pedestrian crash at the 6500 block of Lawndale Street.

Police officers responded to the scene around 9:00 p.m., near Wayside Drive on June 2nd. For reasons under investigation, the driver of a taco-truck hit a pedestrian who was crossing within a marked crosswalk.

The driver then fled the area without calling police. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the pedestrian deceased. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

The taco truck driver voluntarily surrendered to the Houston Police Department. Further details about the fatal pedestrian accident on Lawndale Street will be released as they become available.
