Fatal Pedestrian-Car Collision Claims Lives of Man and Woman near Foothill Boulevard

SYLMAR, CA (September 25, 2023) – Tragedy unfolded on Thursday night when Paul Sanchez and an unidentified female victim lost their lives in a pedestrian accident on Astoria Street.

Officers swiftly responded to the devastating incident at approximately 7:40 p.m., which occurred at the 13900 block of Astoria Street, near Foothill Boulevard.

According to initial reports, a 35-year-old driver heading eastbound on Foothill collided with a man who was pushing a woman in a wheelchair, the reasons for which remain unknown.

First responders who arrived at the scene pronounced the man pushing the wheelchair deceased on-site. Medical personnel transported the female victim to a hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Coroner has identified the deceased male pedestrian as 38-year-old Paul Sanchez, while the identity of the female victim remains undisclosed at this time.

Police authorities have confirmed that the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.

The Los Angeles Officials are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision.
