27-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Big Rig Vs. Motorcycle Collision near North Livermore Avenue

LIVERMORE, CA (June 20, 2024) Miguel Bernardino died early Thursday in a motorcycle collision on westbound Interstate 580.

Police officers responded to the  scene around 5:40 a.m., just west of North Livermore Avenue.

Investigators report that a motorcyclist was splitting lanes between a sedan and a semi-truck in the area. The motorcyclist then hit the big rig, causing the rider to be ejected onto the road directly in front of the truck where he was ran over.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 27-year-old Bernardino, of Merced deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

California Highway Patrol officers closed all westbound lanes around 6:00 a.m. as crews cleared the scene.

An active investigation is currently underway to determine further details. Livermore officials will provide more information about the Interstate 580 motorcycle crash as it becomes available.
