55-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Police Pursuit near Grant Line Road

ELK GROVE, CA (June 19, 2024) – One man was killed Monday night, in a stolen-vehicle crash on Franklin Boulevard and Grant Line Road.

Officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the area of Grant Line Road and Highway 99 around 9:20 p.m.

Responding officers located the vehicle two miles north of the reported location. Authorities state that the driver of the stolen car sped away upon seeing the officers, leading to a brief pursuit.

The suspect then entered a neighborhood and collided with an SUV at the intersection of Laguna and Franklin Boulevard. Emergency personnel rushed the SUV driver to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Officials identified the deceased driver only as a 55-year-old man. Meanwhile, police arrested the 13-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle on several charges, including felony evading resulting in serious injury or death.
