41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after DUI Crash near West Argyle Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (June 27th, 2024)Jesse Ortiz was killed Tuesday morning, in a two-car crash on South Midvale Park Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m., near West Argyle Avenue on June 18th.

According to reports, Ortiz was heading south and attempted to turn left onto West Argyle Avenue when the teenager collided with him.

Medics arrived and eventually pronounced 41-year-old Ortiz dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the teenage driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Preliminary operations determined he was impaired. Police officers noted that failure to yield the right-of-way contributed to the crash, but speed and impairment were the primary factors.

Currently, charges against the teenager are pending, and the case has been forwarded to the Pima County Attorney’s Office. An update will be provided once available.

Deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Jesse Ortiz.
