Single-Plane Accident near Luther Pass Left Two People Dead

ALPINE COUNTY, CA (June 19th, 2024) –  Jeannette Singer & Raphael Jones Jr. died Thursday morning, in a plane collision on Willow Creek near Luther Pass.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m.

First responders located the plane near Willow Creek Road, where they pronounced the pilot and passenger dead.

The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 74-year-old Jones Jr. from San Jose and 80-year-old Singer from Lodi. Investigators stated that Jones Jr. was piloting the plane while Singer was the passenger.

Currently, the Federal Aviation Administration, the NTSB, and the United States Forest Service are leading the investigation. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
