57-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after 2-Vehicle Collision near Sunset Road

SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (July 1st, 2024)Freddy Blondel died Sunday afternoon, in a motorcycle crash on Chuckanut Drive and Sunset Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m., on June 23rd.

According to reports, the 70-year-old female driver of a 2016 Honda CR-V was traveling north on Chuckanut Drive and attempted a left turn onto Sunset Road. In doing so, she turned in front of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle heading south.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the rider, 57-year-old Blondel, dead at the scene.

Authorities indicated that failure to yield the right-of-way was the primary cause of the collision. The incident resulted in lane closures during the investigation. Further investigation is ongoing.
