43-Year-Old Moreno Valley Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Frederick Street

MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 20, 2024) Enrique Ruiz died late Tuesday morning in a pedestrian crash on westbound Interstate 60.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:59 a.m., near Frederick Street and Pigeon Pass Road.

According to reports, a tractor-trailer struck a male pedestrian who was walking in the No. 1 lane. Paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Officials later identified the deceased as 43-year-old Ruiz of Moreno Valley. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident, as confirmed by the CHP.

Police closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 60 while crews cleared the scene.

It is currently unclear why the pedestrian was attempting to cross the freeway.
