31-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Accident near North Benton Street

BIG SPRING, TX (July 1st, 2024)Daniel Scott died early Saturday morning, in a hit-and-run crash at the 600 block of North Owens Street.

Police officers responded around 4:30 a.m., on June 8th.

A friend of Scott informed officers that they were walking home together when a pickup truck hit Scott. According to investigators, the driver briefly slowed down before fleeing the scene without contacting the police.

Upon arrival, authorities found 31-year-old Scott lying on the ground. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The BPD Criminal Investigations Division described the pickup truck as a dark-colored Chevrolet 1500 extended cab from the years 2015-2020.

The suspect has not yet been apprehended, and the investigation is ongoing. Witnesses are encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 432-263-TIPS (8477).
