21-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident near Matlock Road
ARLINGTON, TX (July 1st, 2024) – Areauna Laws died early Sunday in a hit-and-run collision on westbound Interstate 20.
Police officers responded to the scene around 5:00 a.m., near Matlock Road on June 23rd.
Medics discovered 21-year-old Laws lying on the roadway without signs of life. According to investigators, the driver of a 1975 Chevrolet Cheyenne was driving recklessly and hit Laws, who was standing outside her car.
The driver then crossed the median and abandoned the vehicle in a shopping center parking lot on Arbrook Boulevard.
Due to the severity of her injuries, medics pronounced Laws dead at the scene.
Currently, the suspect remains at large, and an active investigation is ongoing. Further details will be provided as they become available.
