Three Victims Hospitalized after Rear-End Accident near 98th Street

LUBBOCK, TX (June 20, 2024) – Three victims sustained injuries late Thursday evening night in a rear-end crash on Highway 87.

Police officers responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., near 98th Street on June 6th.

Reports indicate that a Chevrolet Tahoe towing a furniture-laden trailer was heading southbound on Highway 87, with a passenger vehicle following closely behind. The two vehicles came to a stop, and three occupants got out to secure the furniture.

Shortly afterward, a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling at high speed rear-ended the passenger vehicle, triggering a chain reaction. As a result, the three occupants suffered serious injuries, while a woman inside the passenger vehicle sustained moderate wounds.

Paramedics transported the three victims to UMC for treatment. Meanwhile, emergency crews treated the pickup truck driver at the scene.

Authorities have not released any additional information, and the crash remains under investigation.
