Several Injured in Van Crash near East 2nd Avenue

ESCONDIDO, CA (June 19th, 2024) – Thirteen individuals were hospitalized Thursday afternoon, in a two-car crash on South Juniper Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m., near East 2nd Avenue.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver of a white passenger van collided with another vehicle in the area. The impact pushed the van into the side of a business complex.

Emergency personnel from the Escondido Fire Department transported thirteen adults, including some with special needs, to a hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators noted that the second vehicle involved sustained damage to the front bumper and engine.

Currently, fire officials and a building inspector are assessing the structural integrity of the business complex. Escondido officials closed East 2nd Avenue and South Juniper Street as crews investigated the two-vehicle crash.
